Sandpiper Park in Arcata, California has undergone a complete transformation since its original purchase by ACI in 2006.  With financial support from the City of Arcata, in 2012 Sandpiper Park was transformed into one of the first “tiny home” communities in the United States. The community features 16 HUD-approved manufactured homes, each with 534 sq. ft., and a two-story building containing three rental apartments, the park laundry room and park office.  

The manufactured homes have a feeling of spaciousness due to their cathedral ceilings, six foot front porches, and large dual-pane windows. The homes are energy efficient with upgraded insulation, hardie-board exterior siding, dual-pane windows, tank-less hot water heaters and full-size energy efficient appliances. Although all homes are privately owned by residents who have been approved for tenancy, you can contact the park office to determine if any are for sale.

The three rental apartments are one bedroom units and one is ground-floor with fully ADA features, including a designated ADA parking space. Vacancies occasionally occur, so please contact the park office at 707-822-2624 or ACI at 916-399-4993 to get on a waiting list. You may also apply for tenancy to be pre-approved when a unit is vacated.
